Almost two weeks have gone by since we snuggled down in our cozy little apartment in Alaska. The first week was rather long for me as I tried to find my footing with having a whoooole lot of time on my hands. This week has been nice because Duane has been off most of it so I've had a buddy to hang with. And, we had our first Alaskan Thanksgiving!
Instead of having the traditional turkey that we would have had we been among family and friends, we decided to splurge and celebrate our 33rd anniversary and Thanksgiving by buying some Alaskan King Crab Legs! You would think that they would be more affordable since they pluck them our of our front yard practically, but they definitely aren't cheap! But, they were definitely scrumptious! We had no trimmings; no stuffing, no sweet potatoes, no green bean casserole...just crab and Josh's very delicious recipe for Josephines.
The day was made even better when most of the kids called and we had a nice fluffy snow storm all day long. Valerie was her usual sweet self and she topped it all off with a thoughtful card for the holidays. Even though it is so difficult to be separated from our children and family, the day was good just being here with my hunny.
